Question about my stats?

Hi, i have a GPA of 3.5/3.5, but i took the DAT this past summer and did horrible with 16/16/16. I do have lots of experience in shadowing and working in the field. When i retake this summer do you think it is possible to get interviews and a possible spot in a class if i bring them up to 18/18/18? Thanks

It's possible, but I'm thinking Dschools would prefer to see a bit higher, like 18-19+
Since you have a lot of experience, 18s may be good enough, but your main concern now is to study hard 😉

I would have to say aim for at least 20 on every section. I have similar gpa but my 19 AA 19 TS is not getting ANY love from d-schools.

You can get in with those stats (maybe) I know a guy who got into UNLV when it was new with a 16 (after he retook) and now he's specializing in ortho... go figure.. you can do it

Thanks guys! I will try to do the best that I can, but I guess I am lucky that I am a MN resident and the U of M dental school takes a lot of people from MN, so hopefully my other attributes will make up for a possibly non-badass DAT score

That's weird. I have a 3.5/3.5 with 19 AA and have 5 interviews. I have a friend with around a 3.5/3.5 with a 17 AA with 2 interviews. I've also seen guys with 19 AA with GPA's around 3.2-3.3/3.2-3.3 also getting interviews. The truth of the matter is that schools are looking at more things than just your numbers. They want to see well rounded individuals that show that they can work hard and still accel in their schooling. I got rejected from Case very early because of my 14 in QR, but I interviewed at UNLV. My friend just got rejected from UNLV but is interviewing at Case. Like I said, every school is different and it may be that the intangibles play just as big a roll in getting in specific schools as just your GPA and DAT alone.
