I want to send thank-you notes to my interviewers from an interview today. One was a student who didn't state her last name, and the other was a faculty member with an unusual surname. Do you think it would be OK to email the director of admissions, thanking her but also asking about the proper spelling of the faculty member's name, and the surname of the student?

I'm sure it would be okay to email, but you can probably google the faculty member's name together with the school's name to find a faculty directory page and double check your spelling. You can also be super creepy and search facebook within that med school's network for your student interviewer's first name, and hope that their profile picture is recognizable. :ninja:

That worked like a charm for me on several occasions lol

Calling is fine. What I did at schools where I didn't get the full name or was unsure of the name was to simply ask the admissions rep who did the check-ins (often the director of admissions) for that information before I left. I also sometimes just asked my student host since s/he usually knew my interviewers and could get that information pretty easily if s/he did not.
