Question about NOVA

Hi all,

So I recently received an email from Tracy telling me that I was missing 3 semester hours of Macroecon and an official copy of my AP scores. Do you guys know if I can take the 3 semester hours of Macroecon during the summer (before pharmacy school)? And, how exactly would I be able to obtain an official copy of my AP scores--can I just send in my school transcript if my transcript shows that I got AP credit for certain classes (but it doesn't have the scores)? Or do I have to get a different official copy of AP scores...if yes, how?

I've already emailed and called Tracy twice and she hasn't gotten back to me, which is why I've made this thread.

Any input would be much appreciated. Thanks much guys!

I have no clue about the micro economics. However, I have sent my AP scores to a couple of schools already.

To get your scores just call either one of these numbers:

To request transcripts, please call (609) 771-7300 or (888) 225-5427 (toll-free in the U.S. and Canada).

Be wary though.....my scores are older than 4 years old and are located in the Archives department which means I have to go through the most complicated process possible to get my scores sent out.

Also it is 20 dollars per school.

I, too, received a letter about missing classes. I have completed all of them by fall semester. I don't know about how to show AP credits. You probably are at a disadvantage if you sill have a class left (to be completed in in June, assuming you pass) for NOVA as they will probably fill the class and not wait for you. NOVA is now my first choice school simply because it is close to home and I have flexible hours at work and no religion service commitment as in PBA (I could use this time to study or volunteer). 👎

Oh! One more thing: good luck waiting for a reply from NOVA. I now agree with others on SDN that they have such a poor professional staff that I question why I want to go there. I emailed UF, got a reply about same day. Emailed PBA, got a reply same day. Emailed LeCOM, got a reply. Emailed NOVA last week, still waiting. Called several times one month ago and last week, phone rings and no reply. Too bad there is no UF or LeCOM locally.

I am in the same boat with my AP scores. I'm not sure if they really need them since they didn't count towards any of the prereqs. I have an interview soon, so I guess I will get an answer then.

I have to complete two prereqs. in the summer too. I need to take microeconomics and a speech class. These courses will not finish until the end of July. I hope that is ok! The only thing I came across was that you needed to turn in all your prereq. grades 90 days before classes begin. But then how can they accept summer classes if the program begins in August? As per Pharmcas, Nova allows you to take summer classes, but I don't know the deadline for grades. I guess that is another question to ask at my interview.

Can anyone shed some light?

You can be accepted into a program without completing all the prereqs. They grant you acceptance contingent on finishing the prereqs.

Yeah, plus Microeconomics is easy and is not a science, so I don't see why they would give you any trouble about it.

We require 62 semesters of college be completed prior to matriculation. Applicants must successfully complete ALL course prerequisites by the end of the Summer 2008 term.

Thanks for the numbers! I called the phone number you gave me and the machine gave me another number I called...the whole system was really wierd and automated, "Type 1 for yes, type 2 for no" "enter your four digit college code" "enter your four digit birthday" "enter your credit card number". Haha, anyway, do you know by any chance if I'll be getting a confirmation email of some sort for my "order"?

Thanks everyone else for your input! If I get accepted (let's hope for an interview first *crosses fingers*), I'll most likely take macroecon over the summer.

To confirm that they have "processed" your "order" just call the number back and wait until a representative is available. Basically, just tell the representative that you just ordered you scores and would like to confirm that your order has been processed or has already been mailed out.

If all else fails just check your credit/debit summary to see if you were charged.

Yes, I know that Pharmcas tells you that you can finish the prereqs by the end of the summer term. I am just curious as to the absolute last day you can send in your summer grades.

i have to agree with u that the staff at nova is beyond bad bc they never reply. i gave up on them somewhat and i want to get into nova. dude why would u want to stay locally at nova and pay 25,000 compared to 12,000 a year?? u ok? and thats per year. i mean i dont know whether u have family or kids here bc thats why ppl usually have to stay locally but goodluck.

Absolutely, I am still finishing up pre-reqs and I interviewed in October. I also received that letter that lists missing courses and AP transcripts. You don't have to be done with the pre-reqs to interview and receive an acceptance, you just have to be on track to complete them before classes start. Hopefully that relieves some of your worries. 🙂

I have heard from several people that nova's ad. comm. meets at the end of every month to review candidates and make a final decision. So you should not be worried yet. That kind of sucks for me though as I have an interview soon at the end of the month, so I will be waiting a while. 🙁

They told me they meet once a month to make their decisions. I found out a little less than 4 weeks after I interviewed. You should hopefully hear some news in the next week or so. I wish you luck!

I also received the letter about missing courses. I emailed Tracy and she said they can be completed in the summer...no problem. I wouldn't worry too much about submitting grades after the first summer term if they say it's ok to take summer classes.

whew!!! I thought i was screwed again just like i am at SIUE. Still havent heard anything yet, although i have been contemplating the information given to me about this school by members of this board.

I haven't heard anything from uf as yet. Nova accepted me back in november, so I figure why wait around for uf. My numbers aren't good enough for uf anyhow.

You should be aware that new student orientation is the week of August 3 and classes start August 11. You might need to contact Nova if you will still be taking courses in Gainesville during that time. The 2008 calendar is posted on their website.

i got something from them the other day about how to login using my student id but it also said in bold print "this does not mean you are accepted into the program" ... well i currently have lost that login information so i have no idea what it would lead to.

I was notified for the interview by phone. I also got that form that has login info, with the information you can set up a nova email, see your personal information, see your financial information (useful for financial aid), and access registration for the fall (when it is up, it is not yet).

Actually it was the other way around for me. I interviewed at Nova in October and I got that mailing about 2-3 weeks ago. 🙂
