It was rightly suggested to ask in Pharmacy forums over Pre-Pharm where I had it.

You can find the post here, http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=706188

When deciding on your p4 rotations, do all pharmacy schools allow you to choose where you want to go, if available? Is it just a list you can pick off of ?Are you required to go back to your pharmacy school at all during any of these times? Did a quick search, didn't see anything about this.

So your P4 year you couldn't go to a different state and do all of your rotations? There were only ones from KY? My friend from LECOM said he could go almost anywhere for his rotations, is this not representative of most pharmacy schools?

We have several rotations available out of state and a few international ones, the stipulation is that the out of state rotation has to be an experience not available in-state. So no, Walgreen's in Hawaii is not an option.

We have out of state rotations, but I'm also pretty sure that all the OOS rotations don't fill all of our required rotations. We've got established rotations in AK, AZ(IHS), GA(CDC), DC (FDA), HI, and international. You might be able to setup rotations in other states, but then it gets tricky as you tend to encroach on other school's sites/preceptors.

Schools set their own rules for rotations so you'd be better off asking each prospective school what they do.

For instance we are only allowed to do 3 rotations out of the immediate area (ND, MN, MT) but we can do whatever required rotations wherever we can get them. Walgreen's in Hawaii would be completely cool with our rotation director.

Yup, every school will be different, as evidenced by the small number of posts already. My school had a P4 who moved back home to Chicago and do all his rotations there, and that was perfectly fine.

It was cool for me too, because he was selling a bunch of furniture from his apartment so he wouldn't have to move it. 😀
