Hey y'all

I was looking at the ABPMR website today to try to sign up for part 2 of the pm&r boards. Looks like results for this test do not come back until Summer 2021.

When looking at the pain boards timeline from ABPMR it says that you have to schedule by 3/15/2021.. which you need to pass part 2 to be elible to register..

If I understand correctly, I won't be able to sit for boards until September 2022 then?? Is that right?

Assuming you pass orals, for which 2019 first time takers had a 96.9% pass rate, you can take both in 2021.

No. The late application window for the pain exam is only March 15 – April 1, 2021. That said, You can apply for both the oral board and pain medicine board in the same year. However, The language on their website says that you have to be “a diplomat in good standing“ in order to take the pain board. So you would be required to pass the oral board before you could sit for the pain board. I applied for and took both in the same year utilizing the normal registration windows for each.

I would probably call the board to answer any specific questions you have about the process.
