Hi I am currently going UCLA as a junior biochem.

I know a lot of dental school requires a year of biology which

represent LS1~4 in UCLA.

Here is a description of the each class

LS1: Evolution, Ecology, and Biodiversity

LS2: Cells, Tissues, and Organs

LS3: Introduction to Molecular Biology

LS4: Genetics

I have already taken LS2~4 which is a year of a biology but i heard from

someone that the LS4 does not count as a year of biology becase this

course did not have a lab. So I am thinking of taking LS1.

The thing is that I can take LS1 class as P/NP.

Here is my question.

Do you guys thinkg that i have to take LS1 to fullfill my pre-requisite for

the dental school?

Is it really bad to take a LS1 class as P/NP? Do they consider as a "C"

in terms of grade?

Thanks

Never heard of taking P/NP prereqs. It sounds shady, so I would avoid it. Those easy classes should boost your science GPA, but if you take them P/NP they won't be factored into your GPA ( i believe).

Bio classes don't have to have a lab to count as bio. They will count towards your BCP and science GPAs, but may not fulfill some specific schools' requirements regarding bio lecture/labs. Some schools may just say they want, for example, 14 hrs of bio with 3 labs.

whats your major?? I was mimg and i took all the ls series and those upper divs and it took care of all the requirements... LS 1 sucks tho, id take LS 4 over it any day.
as for pass or fail, you cant take pre reqs p/np... just to be sure you should call couple schools and ask them.

hey i hope you are not psychobio cuz non of those upper div psych classes count towards your BCP...
