On the Penn website, they suggest meeting the Biology prereq by taking a year of general bio, then comparative anatomy or embryology. Does that mean you absolutely must take one of the latter two to meet their requirements, or am I reading that wrong? Also, does anyone know how flexible they are about this type of course? My school offers "Vertebrate Morphology" which includes embryology, anatomy and evolution. Would that suffice?

I'll probably call Penn on Monday, but Im feeling anxious now that I might have to revise my prevet POA....

They are very very flexible about Bio requirements... Definately call/email and check, though, to make sure your courses are acceptable. Just remember that this is an extremely busy time of year for them so it may take them a little while to get back to you if you didn't apply this year.

From my perspective, I would recommend Immunology, Histology, Biochemistry, Developmental Biology/Embryology, and Animal Nutrition courses to anyone thinking about attending Penn. Not necessarily to fill any specific prereqs, but theses courses are all first year classes and already having seen the information before is extremely helpful, not to mention you may have a chance to opt out of a specific course due to undergrad work. Something to think about if you have a little room in your class schedule.
