Hello to everyone. I just wanted to know if anybody here new or is a pharmacoeconomist? I heard that there was huge demand for them and they make huge bux. Is that true? I haven't gone through my pharmacoeconomics class yet but the professor has taught us already and has mentioned it a few times. I am having some hard time finding information about salary, opportunities, education requirements, etc...if anyone knows anything about this area and can shed some light on it that would be great. Thanks.

You can opt for a PhD in pharmacoeconomics and stay in academia.

But my pharmacy school roomate became a pharmacoeconomist. Got his PharmD. Did a primary care residency. Then back to school for masters in pharmacoecon which took 2 more years. He then became a director for an HMO where he managed outpatient prescription formulary.

Salary was equivalent to a hospital pharmacy director.

Thanks. Does he like what he is doing or does he wish he was back do his inpatient/clincal stuff?
