Hey I have a question,

I currently work for a pharmaceutical company but want to pursue my pharmd as a career move. I have a 4 year marketing degree and a 2 year math and science both from different institutions. I have worked for this top pharmaceutical company for 7-8 months and decided pharma sales is not what I want to do. I am highly considering going to MCPHS and trying to get into their accelerated program and am just wondering how the school is and if I have a chance to get in. I have a 3.7 GPA for each of my degrees and was super involved in college and have done a ton of community service over the years. I have some real world pharmaceutical experience as well. I was wondering if anyone could lend me their thoughts especially those that have attended or currently attend MCPHS.

Thank You

Your gpa would certainly be competitive for MCPHS's 4 year program. The accelerated program usually draws more competitive applicants, to what extent i'm not sure. Either way you would put yourself in a good position to get accepted, provided the other pieces of your application were good. The fact you have worked in a pharmaceutical company would certainly help as well I would think.

From what I hear many people complain about the accelerated program at MCPHS, saying its incredible rigorous. They have a very low retention rate (comparatively) if I remember correctly. Beyond that I cannot comment since I don't go there.

ok thanks I will be aiming for A's in the rest of my classes to take so I should bring that up to around a 3.8, thanks for the reply!

I swear to God that my friend got accepted to the accelerated program at MCPHS with ~2.6 GPA (no pharmacy exp, no BS degree). With your 3.7 GPA, you're good to go. All you need to do right now is to apply EARLY & do well on pcat. Good luck

MCPHS takes the PCAT?

The school might change the minimum cutoff I don't know. I never think that someone can get in with ~2.6gpa. If she isn't my friend, I'll not believe this. She said that she had to take pcat. Check the school's website to make sure. Good luck

You definitely do not need the PCAT. I go to MCPHS and got in with a 3.3 GPA, no pharmacy experience, no awesome extracurriculars... just an awesome smile. 😉

They did tell us that only one in 13 got in. It is really a lot of work and they have some stupid policies, like not handing back tests, but it's ok.
