My overall gpa is about a 3.1 and bcp is about 2.6. If I submit an AADSAS this summer, take post bac courses this coming fall semester, and immediately have those new grades sent to schools sometime this December, is there any chance that I could still be accepted this cycle (given that I'm able to be successful in post bac courses/DAT) or is it more likely I will have to wait another year?

IMO, I think you should save ur money, spend this year working on the BCP. Meanwhile, you can study and take the DAT this summer.

Agree with dentalworks on this one. I was in a similar situation, sent my fall post-bacc grades asap but it didn't matter, most ds told me they wanted to see a substantial amount of credit hours of the post bacc and one semester wasn't enough. Wait to apply until after you have done well in the post-bacc, it will save you a lot of money and time.

Agreed. One semester of postbac is not going to make much of a dent on your 2.6 bcp gpa. Take AT LEAST 1 full year of postbac to bring that bcp gpa to 3.0 or above.

I always thought that any type of postbac grades are kept separate from undergrad grades when calculating gpa so what happens is that you essentially end up with two separate calculations of gpa's (undergrad/postgrad) in AADSAS. Am I mistaken?

A masters gpa would be separate, but a post-bacc would just be added to your other undergrad gpa. So take as many upper level science courses as you can handle, get As in all of them and boost up your bcp.

That kind of sucks. Basically, even if I take 4 a semester this coming year and get straight A's, my bcp is only gonna go up to around a 2.75 given I've already taken so many hours in undergrad. Will schools even be impressed with a year of straight A's even though the bcp is up marginally?

so take more classes! 1 year with 4 credits each semester is like 30-32 credits? mehhh. take enough that'll get you to at least a 3.0.....imo. maybe just take summer courses as well.
& i'm not sure about your 2nd question, i feel like schools that actually review every app (if thats even physically possible...) will consider someone whose done a postbacc aka someone in your situation, whereas another school just wont care bc your gpa is just too low.
also on some websites it says if youre a reapplicant we'll highhly consider your app to see what you've done (ie--full course loads, masters etc). so maybe those institutions will actually review u again?
dunnnnnnnoooooooo 😴

Upward trend is important, but 1 or 2 semesters of straight 4.0 works isn't as impressive ESPECIALLY since the BCP will still be less than 3.0.

IMO, you will probably need more than 2 full time semesters. I am guesstimating 50-60 credits of post-bacc
