Hey guys, so I am a little aways from applying to schools and I was just wondering how exactly the PTCAS system works. Is there a way I can calculate my overall GPA and science GPA using the method PTCAS uses?... is there some sort of calculator? Also when factoring in the classes that affect the science GPA... do I get to pick the courses that I want to use...? For example, if I take 4 different bio courses and a school requires that I have 2... can I use the two courses that I received A's in, rather than the ones that I didn't? Thanks in advance!

You know you can contact the source (ptcas) directly and get your answer, right?

Use a GPA calculator online. All 4 will be used for the overall and the two that the school requires will be used for the prerequisite GPA. You can't pick and choose. And yes check PTCAS. They have all the information.

When you fill in your classes on PTCAS, you do choose which classes are prerequisite courses, and PTCAS uses those courses to calculate your prereq GPA. However, for the general "science" GPA, PTCAS will average every science class you've taken.

Also, schools sometimes do their own GPA calculations, instead of using the PTCAS calculations, so it's best to check with your schools to see how they will calculate your GPAs.

You must be a miserable person. All of your replys are either snippy or hateful. If everyone's questions irritate you so much, why not just stay off the forum? Everyone else on here is extremely helpful and encouraging.

How is telling someone that contacting ptcas to get a 100% correct answer is the best option considered hateful? Please explain.

A lot of times in PT school, you will have to find answers on your own, or at least make an attempt before the professor will answer your question. All Nicole's saying is, the best and fastest way to find an answer (and in this case, the most accurate) is to go directly to the source: PTCAS.

The interwebz is serious business

But spend some time on the PTCAS website all your answers are on there, if you still are having trouble then this forum has a search function

Good luck with your application!
