this is a simple, but silly question.

since your letters of recommendations will be read by all the residency programs you apply to, whom does the person writing the recommendation address the letter to?

do they begin," Dear Program Director" or "To Whom It May Concern" ?

what's the standard etiquette?

any replies would be helpful. thank you.

I've had them addressed both ways. Most doctors will already have some form created. If you have a preference then just tell the doctors secretary. The secretary will be the one typing the letter (usually). Either way, the PD's will probably not quibble over the content of the Salutation.

Best of luck!

thanks docmojo

I agree with the above post. My school "recommends" Dear Program Director, but either is ok.
