Is anyone having trouble finding a science instructor as their referee? I recently graduated and I am working towards my dental school application. The US schools that I looked at so far all require at least 2 science instructors who have taught us before. I only have one letter from a sci instructor and one letter from a dentist. I am very worried about how I can get a second referee! My questions are as follows:

1) Are there any US schools that require only 1 science instructor as a referee? If not, do you know about schools in Australia?

2) I emailed a few sci instructors to see if I can work in their lab but they either do not reply or said they do not have any space available at the moment. Any advices?

3) I thought about going back to school to take 1 or 2 classes, but I realized it is still very difficult for me to get to know the prof as most of my class sizes usually range from 70 to more than 100 students. I also thought about getting a Master's degree, but again, it's hard for me to find a lab that will take me in + I am not very into doing researches for at least 2 yrs. Without this one science instructor as my referee, is there no way for me to get into dental school?

Any responses will be highly appreciated! Thanks!!

It is not a must to get it from your profs. I did my undergrad out of US and I got LOE from people I know and dentists, and from my boss. I already get two interviews. try to get from your profs, if it is not possible, get from your work place or a dentist.

If those large classes had discussion sections, and you got to know your teaching assistant, then you can have the teaching assistant submit comments about you to the professor. The professor can then use these comments to help write the letter of recommendation.

Thanks for all your advices! DawitGoshime, do you mind telling me which 2 schools you were offered interviews? So far, all the schools that I called said they MUST have at least 2 science instructors as referee. I am surprised that you did not have any sci profs as your referees. Thanks!
