So, I rescheduled my Step 2 CK date today (original date next week; moved the test date 1 week later) online through the Prometric site. I paid the $50 and got a confirmation email from Prometric with my new test date. But when I look at the reschedule policy, I'm confused...

RESCHEDULE / CANCEL POLICY

If you need to change (e.g., reschedule, cancel, change test center location) your appointment, you must go towww.prometric.com/USMLE or call the Prometric Regional Registration Center (RRC) noted on your Scheduling Permit. If you reschedule, your rescheduled test date(s) must fall within your assigned eligibility period. If you are unable to take the test within your eligibility period, contact your registration entity to inquire about a one-time eligibility period extension. A fee is charged for this service, and some restrictions may apply.
The date that you change your appointment, using local time of the RRC, will determine whether you pay an appointment change fee and the amount of this fee:
- If you change your appointment 31 or more days before (but not including) the first day of your scheduled test date, there is no fee.
- If you change your appointment fewer than 31 days but more than 5 days before (but not including) the first day of yo ur scheduled test date, the fee is $50 US Dollars (USD).
- If you change your appointment 5 or fewer days before (but not including) the first day of your scheduled test date, the fee is $128.00 USD for domestic U.S.A. and Canada, $311.00 USD for International Zone 1, $353.00 for International Zone 2, or $569.00 USD for International Zone 3.

SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT CANCELLED OR MISSED APPOINTMENTS: If you cancel your appointment within 30 days or do not appear on your scheduled test date, you must call the RRC as directed on your Scheduling Permit and pay the appropriate fee to reinstate your eligibility record before you can schedule a new appointment. You will not be able to perform any transactions via the web.
If you do not take the test within your original or extended eligibility period and wish to take it in the future, you must reapply by submitting a new application and fee.
Did I have to call the RRC before I rescheduled???? Am I supposed to call RRC now? Also my NBME webpage still has my original test date. Does this update automatically in a few days to reflect the new date?

Anyone reschedule their CK test recently and could help me out? Thanks in advance!

Where did you pay the 50$?!! As far as I know you can only pay the 50$ by calling Prometric. They don't have any online system for rescheduling

Maybe they have added this option recently but haven't update their website. Because I know that paying online was not an option before. Call them and confirm it. If they sent you the confirmation with the new date you should be fine but i would call anyways.

Did you have to cancel first before choosing the new date? or you chose your new date first? I am asking for myself. I might have to postpone too 🙁

Hmm, that's annoying. Yes, I'll call and confirm it and see if I need to do anything to update it on the NBME website, which still lists my old date.

I first clicked "search for availability" to see the open spots. Then, I went back and clicked "reschedule my appointment" (not "cancel") and picked the date I wanted.

Thats for people that Cancel the exam and not choose and alternative date ... You Rescheduled so you DO NOT fall into the criteria of no show/ chancel exam .

Even for rescheduling, in the past you had to call in and pay the 50$ over the phone

Thanks. That was my suspicion too, but then, like Red Husky, I thought that previously you had to call in to reschedule.

Do you know if the NBME USMLE page updates itself? Does this take a couple days? Today, mine is still showing my original date.

Hey Grisha,Did you end up contacting Prometric? Was it necessary? I am asking because I might need to reschedule too. (Exam Sep 30th 🙁)

No I didn't. Because I saw my permit on NBME website change automatically and didn't think it was necessary to call.
