I have been doing a project for a doctor which includes combing through patient records and noting down risk factors and treatments for each specific patient,. This data is going towards a poster that the doctor will present at one of his conferences. I have done about 150 hours going over about 40 patients

Is it still considered clinical research even though I am only doing data analysis? If the doctor does present it can I include it in my application as a poster presented even though I'm not going to be there?

Thanks for the help

Yes, it is clinical research. That's actually what a majority of undergrads and med students do when they say they're doing clinical research. Retrospective cohorts and chart reviews.

I wouldn't include it as a poster presentation as you are not the one presenting. In your description of the research, you can add a sentence that your work contributed to a poster presented at X conference by Dr. Y.

In my opinion, if the doc includes your name as a co-author on the poster, it would be legit to include it on your application under Posters/Presentations, provided you make it clear who did the presentation, even if you were not physically present. If your name is not included as a co-author, then mention it in the same space as the Research, as Ismet suggested.

Yeah, I'd make sure that the doc is putting you as an author on that poster. They better be!

Also, 150hrs on 40 patients is super slow!
