I am first year medical student and am extremely interested in PMR. When it comes to residency and how best to obtain a competitive one, I feel very uneducated. I know all about good grades, Step I scores, auditions, etc, but I don't know anything about research. Do you think that it is important to do it during the summer, or is it better to externships? I have been trying to contact the residency director at my school to no avail, so I have come to ya'll for help. Also, where do you find out about research? Are residents in PMR active in research and is it best to contact them? Sorry for all the questions, but I feel very confused and want to get something together for this summer.
Thanks in advance for any advice you may be able to give.
