Hi. I am looking for a new job and I have a question regarding immunization certification for pharmacist.

Any advice will be greatly appreciate. Thank you.

A chain pharmacy job is almost impossible to obtain now a day unless you know the right person and have right experience.

They require a pharmacist to be certified to immunize when apply for the job.
However, it seems impossible to get the certification due to Physician Protocol requirement in Florida if a pharmacist is trying to get it done without right job first.

So.. how does one break that vicious cycle?
In order to get immunization certification you need a practice to provide physician with protocol. In order to even attempt to get retail pharmacist position you need a immunization certification..

I understand this may never be an issue for a grad-interns since they can get it done seemlessly.. but how other pharmacists can handle this?

Any advice will be very helpful. Thank you.

The course is only a part of certification process. To get certified the FBOP requires both physician signature for protocol and 20 hrs of qualifying education. When I first tried to get certification right after my graduation, BoP told me I cannot get certification unless I have a job and a physician backing the protocol to sign it.

Chains should be able to help you do the paperwork for FL certification if you already have APhA certification. How would they hire external new grads otherwise?

... I think you may have misunderstood them.

What?! you got it completely wrong... I'm also assuming you are an older pharmacist since you aren't certified by your school.
Yes. If you are certification ready(20 qualifying class hrs), the chain will provide with all other requirements.

Take a look if you believe I am misunderstanding anything, but you cannot be certified to immunize in Florida unless you are already engaging in practice where they can provide required physician protocol.

I appreciate the replies, but I think I got enough answers here.

I think you misunderstood what they meant, you must also have graduated from a non-established school if they didn't offer immunization certificate... I could explain further but it looks like you already have enough answer from here
