Hello, I have a second interview for a peds job (mostly outpatient, some inpatient) coming up. It is a dinner where I will meet the rest of the healthcare providers. In the first interview, I just met with the owner and head doc of the clinic. For this dinner, I assume that the expectation is that I still wear a suit? It will be held in a restaurant, and I'm sure that the goal of the experience will be to see if I mesh with the whole team. It seems a bit more informal than the first interview, but I assume that I should err on the side of appearing more formal and as professional as possible. Also, this will be my first interview dinner. Any tips other than being yourself and asking good questions? Thanks.

I'd wear a tie and jacket, not necessarily a suit. If you see everyone else is dressed in jeans, you can take off the jacket, make a joke about it and remove the tie and away you go. Major tip for a dinner is the same as for ANY interview dinner anywhere.....don't drink too much!

Talk about hobbies, family and cars. Avoid controversial topics like sports teams.....

Thank you so much for the feedback! I am actually a female. So maybe a nice top and skirt would be okay? I don't have a tie. 🙂

A nice blouse and pants would be fine too. Wear whats comfortable (including comfy shoes..), but you certainly don't need to wear a suit jacket.

Other advise stands regardless of gender....
