Question about sending GRE to SOPHAS

So just to clarify: I sent my scores to four of the schools I want to apply to, and these schools will then send my scores directly to SOPHAS?

Also, in the SOPHAS application, when it asks for GRE Registration ID, is this the same as the registration number in my GRE score report? Mine was a seven digit number.

I don't believe the schools send your scores to SOPHAS; that's why you "unofficially" report them to SOPHAS. I emailed them to double-check on it too 😉 ETS doesn't send anything to SOPHAS, so I don't know why the schools would.

If you log on to your GRE account or find the registration email you got when you signed up for the test, your registration ID is on there. I forget how many numbers it's supposed to be...

Yes, the schools that you designated will forward the scores to SOPHAS. I'm pretty sure the account number on the score report is the registration ID.

I was under the impression that you send your GRE scores to one SOPHAS participating school, who forwards it to SOPHAS, who then forwards the scores to all the other schools you're applying to, thereby saving you money...

But then I got an email today from two schools saying they haven't got my GRE scores, and one of the schools said I need to send the GRE scores with their school code or it won't be included in their specific application. :O

Does that mean I have to send my GRE schools to all the schools I'm applying to? It's confusing because I got emails from two other schools saying my application is complete...so some got my GRE scores from SOPHAS and others didn't? Wha....?

I was told by SOPHAS that I needed to send GREs for every school I applied too.

Scores are sent to schools. Each school that requires the test must receive the GRE scores from ETS. Then, in a ridiculous turn of events, the schools send the scores to SOPHAS as part of the application materials. It is bureaucratic and counterintuitive, but this is the way the system works.

So, yes. Do not send scores to SOPHAS; there would be no way of doing that, anyway. Send them to each school, and the school will take care of it from there.

Sorry, I should have clarified: I sent the scores to one school, the school sent them to SOPHAS. I asked SOPHAS if they sent them to the other schools, they said "no", but the other schools still got my GRE scores from SOPHAS and didn't ask for additional scores (Except UMDNJ).

The EXACT same thing happened to me. I sent it to one school and it was over and done with. When I tried to contact SOPHAS about the discrepancy they just ignored the question altogether. Very very odd.

Yeah...I'm gonna have to side with Rena on this one. No one said anything about sending anything to SOPHAS. Only SOPHAS participating schools.

Sigh... I'm going to be so angry if I wasted a bunch of money on GREs. I called SOPHAS and they said that I had to send one to every school I was applying to.

Yeah... The current system with GREs is pretty ridiculous, but what they asked you to do is especially ridiculous.

I honestly wouldn't mind sending GRE scores to the schools--it would kind of defeat the purpose of one application through SOPHAS, but whatever, at least it saves money and makes rec letters easier--what's really frustrating is the conflicting answers they give.

Last year, I had a question about re-verifying my GPA to include my Fall grades, and one school told me to submit the transcript to SOPHAS, and they would re-verify it. I emailed SOPHAS asking if that was correct, and I got an email saying it was. I sent the transcript in, and nothing happened for three weeks, I emailed/called them a few times and they said it was normal for it to take that long (which makes sense, considering how long it takes to be verified in the first place). I finally called again after a month, and was told they didn't re-verify and update GPAs. That would make sense, but they told me otherwise many times... The schools knew I was supposed to be getting my GPA updated, so my application just sort of sat around for an extra month before we found out they don't do that.

I actually looked back at some of the old emails, and the responses came from a different email address domain than I would expect from SOPHAS, I wonder if they have people from outside of SOPHAS handling questions, which could explain the confusion, maybe.

I'm sorry for the rant, it's been a crappy few weeks and I have a lot of angst.
