Question about Shadowing and Volunteering

Hi Dents,

I'm planning to apply to dent school this year and I have a quick question. I've been working full-time at a biotech company, so I wasn't able to volunteer in a dental setting (because virtually all of the shadowing/volunteer opportunities are 9-5, m-f, which is exactly when I was working). so, just to get added health care experience, I volunteered in an ICU. Do you think dent coms would value this experience? I shadowed my dentist earlier at the end of college, and he wrote me a rec. basically, i wanted more health care volutneering exposure but my work schedule prevented me from doing anything specific to dental. although, just recently i found a couple of dentists who are open saturday, so i'm shadowing them now.

any thoughts you have are much appreciated. thanx.

no worries.......saturdays plus the time you have already done should be plenty. ADCOMS like to see well-rounded applicants, so your full-time job and ICU experience will help you there.
