would it be better to shadow a general dentist or a specialist? i have been shadowing a general dentist for a month for 4hr/week. i just got in contact with a endodontist and i able to shadow him once a week for 4 hours as well. what is your input on this?

Do both! Some schools require GPs tho

endo is kinda boring to watch, but its cool to learn how to diagnose.
i think you are safe just shadowing a gp in terms of applying, but it doesnt hurt to watch other specialists.

It's best to prioritize general dentistry shadowing requirements since some schools are particular about that. You are going to school to be a general dentist after all. If you feel comfortable with your general dentist hours though, shadowing specialists can give you an idea about the range of dental procedures, so I'd recommend it. Plus it shows you how specialists might interact with general dentists in terms of treatment plans and referrals.

General 100%. DS prepares for general practice, it's up to you if you want to specialize.
