Hello all. I am planning on taking the MCAT this August/September. Here are the main courses I would have completed by then.

-Bio 1+2
-Gen Chem 1+2
-Analytical chem (probably irrelevant)
-Orgo 1 (taking in the summer)
-Genetics
-Physics 1+2

If all goes as planned, I will be enrolled to take Orgo 2 in the fall semester (August), so I will just be starting that class when I want to take the MCAT.

Any suggestions to my plan? Any other courses I should take this summer that would help with the MCAT? Or would it be best to complete Orgo 2 and just take the MCAT in January? I am planning on beginning to study for it by the end of April.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

More bio (physio, cell), and be done with all of o.chem

I just want to respond to tell you that while it is HIGHLY recommended to take all the prereqs before taking the MCAT it is not an impossible task to do well without taking ochem 2. In fact, I did it myself and didn't do too bad. If you feel confident after ochem 1 I'd reconsider taking the MCAT in August.

There is very little Ochem on the mcat. Your fine with one semester. I also had AP'd out of bio and learned all of it while studying before the MCAT. It's all about how you study before, not the classes you take.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I am still going to start preparing this summer and if I feel as if I am ready to give it a shot in the fall, I will do it. Otherwise I will just wait until early '13 to take it.
