MTB-2 says that when you're treating active infection, you normally treat for 6 months, where that's broken down into 2 months of RIPE and 4 months of RI.

It then says that Tx is instead 9 months for osteomyelitis, meningitis, miliary TB or pregnant women not on pyrazinamide.

1) It's reasonable to assume then that the 9-month Tx is 3 months of RIPE and 6 months of RI. Is that correct?

2) In pregnant women, would it instead be RIE for 3 months and RI for 6?

Thanks,

From UTD:

Pyrazinamide is not absolutely necessary as part of a first line regimen, and because of limited safety data, it is not used routinely for pregnant women in the United States. However, pyrazinamide is recommended by the World Health Organizations as part of a standard regimen for treatment of TB in pregnant women. In circumstances such as HIV coinfection, tuberculous meningitis, very extensive disease, and any form of drug resistance, it would be prudent to consider the use of pyrazinamide. The absence of pyrazinamide from the treatment regimen results in a treatment duration of nine months instead of six months.
