I'm trying to figure out what to write for Temple's question about my interest in their school. Besides writing what I like about curriculum, clinical experience, etc, is it ok to mention that I have family there, since it is a big reason why I applied there? I'm from AZ, so I thought it might help to show them that I'm really interested in their state-affiliated school. Also, the secondary asks something like what is the "nature of your special interest" in Temple. Is this any different than asking why you want to go to their school? Thanks!

I don't think there's a difference, and definitely mention your family. I even wrote that the support system sounded strong (per quotes on their old - and sadly not much worse - website), and that was important since I'd be moving away from my Canadian hometown for their first time. Just put whatever valid reasons you can think of in a coherent manner. Good luck! 🙂

I think you should definitely write that in there. That's the whole point of the question. They want to make sure that they only give you a chance if you'll give them a chance. In other words, they want to make sure that if they invest time to interview you, you are genuinely interested in attending. I def. think you should talk about your personal connections to the state!

Write about your family. It is important, for all the reasons you and other posters have already stated.

Def. write about your family... maybe talk about the fact that they'll be sort of a support system while you're up there. They can help you ease into new life in a new city.

Definitely write about why you would love to be in Philadelphia, how strong your connections are etc. They will be wondering whether someone from Arizona would ever take an acceptance at a school so far from home.
