I remember seeing a thread a while ago that consisted of med students writing long descriptions of different aspects of the schools they were attending, like what they liked most/class schedule/testing schedule, etc. I have been unable to find it through searching. Can anyone direct me to it?

I am mainly interested in trying to find out information on class schedules and testing schedules at the Texas medical schools. For instance, Baylor goes until noon and finishes basic sciences in 18 months and Southwestern goes from 9-5, etc.

If there is any thread that helps with these questions it would be great if someone could help me find it.

Thanks!

My suggestion is to check interview feedback as there are descriptions of the schools. Also check each of the individual school threads under school specific discussions as those questioned are usually answered by current students.

Have you already applied and trying to decide on a school or researching in preparation of applying? If it's the latter, these details are gone over ad nauseam on interview day, and really shouldn't be a factor when applying to a school.

Okay thanks for the feedback. I am applying this summer, just trying to learn as much as I can about the schools in the meantime.

You don't think they should be a factor at all? Or just that there are other, more important factors?

I have heard that at schools with half-day classes you can approach it more like a full-time job, where you go to class then study for 6-7 hours then have a couple hours off at night, as opposed to being required to be in class until late afternoon and then having to fit studying in for the rest of the night. I know med school will be extremely tough, but it seems like if I could do that it would increase the quality of life at least during years 1-2.

And the reason I was asking about testing is because I like the idea of getting ready for one test at a time instead of having to focus on a multiple subjects that are testing the same week.

Any thoughts on this?
