hey guys, i'm still a pre-dental student, (applying for the 2005 cycle). i was wondering how many boards exams do you have to take? i know that the part I is either at the end of your first or second year. is the part II when you finish? do all dental students take the same part II, or is it specific to their state? and after you finish your part II, do you have to take your state certification exam? i plan on practicing and going to school in florida, so any help would be appreciated. thanks

Omar, Part I is taken after 1st or 2nd year, and Part II is taken 4th year. Those are national exams and taken by all dental students. Completion of those, along with graduation, gives one the DDS or DMD degree. Ability to actually practice, however, is hinged upon completion of regional licensure exams, which vary from region to region.

Florida has it's own state licensure exam that you must pass (ie, it doesn't participate in the NERB or WREB, etc.).

hey thanks gavin, so if i take the certification exam in FL, am i only allowed to practice in FL? what if i later on in life decide to move and practice elsewhere, will i have to take the respective states board exams? thanks
