UCLA's first supplemental question is "If you are not currently enrolled in school, what have you been doing since graduation?" I just graduated in May so I'm not enrolled in school anymore. However, I have mostly been working on application stuff since graduation. It's an optional question but I'm not sure if it would look bad if I just leave it blank. Should I explain that I'm taking a gap year or is this more of a question designed for applicants that haven't been in school for longer? Any advice is appreciated, thanks!

Hey! I think you can discuss what you've been doing for the past month, and what you plan to do with your gap year. Something like, since graduation I've been working on getting everything for my application put together, as well as improving it in the ways I can. I plan to continue doing so throughout my gap year, as I will be doing __, __, and __. Cue some explaining.
I think that would be an appropriate way to answer it. Otherwise, you could put something like "Recent graduate, so I have not been out of school for very long." and that's it. I think I might've done this for some supplemental questions for other schools that didn't apply to me.

Also, you can post other questions like this in our school thread: *** The Official UCLA School of Dentistry Class of 2023 Interview/Acceptance Thread *** 🙂 Good luck!

Definitely agree with above post. I think this is more for people that have been out for a year or more. So I don't think you need to write an essay by any means but adding what you have been doing and your plan for the next year would probably not hurt you any.

Sounds good! Thank you so much for the suggestions 🙂
