I am an MS3 looking to do a study using an NSQIP database but have no experience with R or any sort of coding. My friend is a software engineer. She has nothing to do with healthcare but has offered to help me with the stats. I'm worried there might be a conflict of interest or some other issue that can creep up later. She checked with her company and they said she is okay to work on something like this. Could this lead to a problem?

There is no conflict of interest. There was a recent study on AI and third line therapy for OAB and one of the coauthors is a resident, the other is his brother who is a programmer, who did the stats. If there is no conflict of interest there, there won’t be with you.

Yea no conflict of interest. Just give him authorship with whatever pubs you get out of the database
