Question about volunteer work

I was a sunday school teacher for over a year but I'm not sure if I should list something that is religious related. I guess I'm just not sure how it might be viewed. Any thoughts would be appreciated, thanks! 🙂

It all depends on what aspect you focus on. If you focus on the teaching part, it should be a-ok. Just show passion and devotion in what you do.

It's okay to list religious-affiliated things, esp. if you've spent a considerable amount of time in the activity/organization. What's important to them is what you GOT out of it...teaching skills, organizational skills, public speaking, community service, etc. I was affiliated with a student-run campus Islamic newspaper, and I listed it on my app...I think it adds diversity to your experiences.

I agree with the above. I listed the two missions trips I went on. As long as you focus more on being service-oriented and being selfless with your time, it doesn't really matter WHAT you're doing(unless, of course, you're doing something like volunteering your time to make bombs for the Michigan militia or something).

Thanks for all of the suggestions-it's appreciated. An n0chi, I wasn't insinuating that religion is a bad thing, I just wasn't sure on how ad coms/schools view it. I just know that religion can be a touchy subject (obviously). Anyway, I hope that wasn't the impression I gave and thanks again everyone!
