So, ecuajedi posted on a different thread (Louisville VCU thread) the possibility that VCU is interviewing for a waitlist, first. I never heard of this before, but given that I received a VCU interview invite, I am interested in knowing if anyone has an idea if this sort of thing happens; that a school would interview applicants that they weren't as interested in, first. I'm freaking out a little about this idea. Just wanted to know if that's a possibility. I did hear from someone that got accepted last year (as an out of state resident) that 1,900 applied to VCU, about 300 received interviews and 90 were enrolled. Just wanted some thoughts and possible reassurance. THANKS 🙂

i have heard of schools interviewing just for the waitlist spots but i think it is too early for that. my friend got an interview at indiana last year and the explicitly said this is only for the waitlist so dont worry. he withdrew when he got accepted at his state school

First of all I don't know your profile, but any schools that interview you express that they are very interested in you. There is no way in heck that they will invite out second class students before the first class students. They want the best students first.

Although schools like Louisville seem to be more realistic with who they invite. Not that they invite second class first to creat a waitlist, but they know that higher scoring students won't end up there at their school, so they don't even invite them. That in turn, makes the second class student the first class student and drives me crazy!

As with VCU, they are just making me humble. It shows that I am not good enough for an interview with them, but that I am too good for an interview with Louisville.

My 20+ scores and a 3.8 gpa was just low enough to be left out, but too good to get in. When I saw my score for the very first time I had no idea that these schools would ignore me for different reasons. I have had more questions than answers with this whole process. Sometimes it makes no sense at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dsmack... your stats are above mine! Your stats are AMAZING. You should be SOOOOO proud! Unbelievable! I'm quite fond of this thing they call the exclamation point.

Speaking of stats, that is what hurts. Why no interviews at certain schools? Like I expained in another forum, kids with lower stats are getting interviews where I can't.

Sometimes it is mind blowing. Nine interviews and I shouldn't be complaining, but it still blows my mind about a few schools I was really high on. go figure.
