So I once got this interview question (not for med school, but for something else)

"What would you do after you take an extremely hard test"?

Is it weird if our answer to questions like that is party/drink/go to the bars? It's sort of the truthful answer for a lot of us, and definitely way less fake then saying something more appropriate. I mean seriously...did anyone feel like doing anything other than partying after the MCAT? I felt really awkward saying that I would go play tennis and read a book for fun in such situations.

Sigh, this is one of those questions where it's an open secret that adcoms are looking for a bullcrap answer, yet one that doesn't sound like complete bullcrap. It's a tough act to put on. When I got this question, here's how I answered:

The first thing I would do is set my affairs in order. For example, I would organize any loose articles that had been aggregating while I had been busy. I would clean my apartment. And if necessary, I would catch up on sleep. Afterwards, I would go to the gym or exercise. Only after I have completed all necessary items would I socialize with friends.

In reality,

"YOLO SWAG, let's get faded as FAWK"

Normal person: I would hang out with friends and probably get drunk so I can forget the test.

Pre-med: Of course I would do what any normal person would do... I would drive around looking for soup kitchens to volunteer at with my friends. If we can't find any, I would ask the hospital which I volunteer at to let me work an extra shift because I love helping the community. Also since I'm probably under 21 as a traditional pre-med, I have never had a drop of alcohol in my life! 🙄

And don't forget stopping by the research lab to check on your 17 ongoing experiments!

After an Organic mid-term I once danced in my car to the YMCA song, windows down. Caught sight of a man in military fatigues giving me the stank eye from the other lane. Too late to back down now. Just kept dancing.

I like to play basketball and I run about 20-30 miles a week

I play board games and cards! Haha. I don't party or drink or anything. Not into that.

Oh, and i like to sleep. And eat. Those are my favourite.

 that is actually what I would do...just go home and veg out with a good book or movie or with friends.

I would guess adcoms would want you to answer as truthfully as possible while avoiding mentioning anything illegal or reckless. So it'll be fine to say you would go out and hang out at a bar/restaurant with a couple friends (if you're over 21) but not okay to detail how wasted you got and the epic night you had as a result. But who knows with these adcoms sometimes?

I guess I am weird. After my MCAT, I spent time relaxing, going hiking and camping. I even started to fish a little. It was nice having free time.

A lot of medical students go out after a big exam. If you are of legal age and you give an answer related to kicking back with friends and enjoying a night out, the interviewer will see that you fit right in. Giving a goody-two-shoes answer just sounds phoney.

Awesome advice. Thank you!

...even though I'm not the OP

After my mcat I went straight to Vegas

I took the test IN Vegas (actually in Henderson since I couldn't find a testing center in CA). First thing I did after taking it was go to the strip to get a crepe in Paris and a purple haze slushy in the Numb bar in Caesar's palace. nomnomm

I lol'd

Besides relevant extracurriculars and a part time job, I enjoy cooking, reading, handling my pet snakes, and I make a point to go out with friends at least twice a month.

I also have a workout schedule, but it only consumes about 45 minutes per day.

I got this question at a couple of my interviews and just gave a generic "go out with friends for dinner and a night on the town to de-stress." I got accepted, so clearly it didn't hold me back that much.

Ah I see. Guess I'll just stick with my real answer then
