Can someone please inform me -- in which month is a good time to apply for Anesthesiology? I am going to send my material into ERAS very soon, and I should have my LORs ready very soon as well. Can someone please inform me which month, or even which part of which month, is a good time to apply to various Anesthesiology programs? I have heard from others that most of the interviews are conducted in November / December. In that case, am I safe to apply in October? Can someone please please help me out with this?
Thanks so much!

Apply as early as possible. It affords one the opportunity to choose their interview dates more liberally. This goes for everyone in every field in every profession.

Yeah, apply the first day that you can, September something if I remember right. You may have an interview or two at the tail end of November, but most by far will be in Dec/Jan, even the first week of Feb if you so desire.

On a similar note, I heard that interviews kinda start to slow down for a week or 2 at the end of Decemeber...anyone find this to be true? Also, do many places schedule interviews on the weekends?

Thanx

From my experience that was true. Many programs didn't interview from a little before Christmas to a couple of days after New Years. I interviewed at one place that did the interview on Saturday. Friday was the tour and the social aspect which started at noon (Emory).

Thanks for the response...that's some good news...

While we're at it, maybe someone who has been there can solve this puzzle for me:

On Step 1 I scored 226.

I'd like to take Step 2 early November because of busy schedule early 4th year, and expect to do as good or better. Should I rework my schedule to get my results back earlier so I am not rejected off the bat from better programs, or can I get by until my Step 2 scores arrive in December?

BTW, American grad, allopathic average med school, mid third of class, excellent grades 3rd year, should have excellent LORs.

Appreciate the insight guys!

you won't get rejected right off the bat from top programs with what you have. just land those letters and get some gas and cc rotations under your belt.
