Do dental schools that traditionally only take in-state residents (ie UW) open their doors for out of state WICHE students?[/QUOTE

The only school I am familiar with is UW and I know that they are supposed to reserve at least 2-4 spots for WICHE residents. This has always been the case. Also, UW has always accepts a few out-of-staters who are not IN state or in one of the WICHE states; of course these guys has to have like a 4.0GPA and killer DAT scores.

It all depends on your home state's agreement with whatever dental school they set the agreement up with. For example, Idaho is a part of WICHE but only for the medical component - not the dental (they have a seperate agreement with Creighton). Thus, had I applied to UW from Idaho I could not compete for one of the WICHE seats at UW.

Colorado is also a WICHE school. I don't know how many seats they have reserverd for WICHE, but at least a few of the people that I know that are from AZ like yourself, got invited to interview there based on their participation in WICHE.

ok, so I should just mention during my interview that I am WICHE student. Based upon what I figured out from the WICHE website, I have to let the WICHE people know by Oct. what schools I have been accepted to. So, if I am looking for a WICHE "seat" at one the WICHE schools I should tell them during the interview so I can be added into their database in that catagory?
