Question: do masters help in applying for residency?

Dear members,
I am a foreign medical student attempting to apply for family medicine in the u.s. I was wondering if a masters degree in kinesiology would score me some extra points/interviews? I would like to specialize in sports medicine as a fellowship in the future and I feel like there should be a strong correlation between the two. Please give me some opinions/suggestions. Thx!
