I completed the DAT 5/14:
TS 18
AA 19
PAT 17
GPA 3.7
SciGPA 3.3
NC resident, undergrad at University of Central Florida
- I was going to try applying this cycle asap early June, but I got a 16 in Biology, and 15 in QR -- which is horrible. (I have only completed up to Biology I so far, taking Micro and Histology this summer)

Therefore, I cannot retake the DAT until mid August...

Should I apply June 1st and send my original DAT scores and note that I will be retaking the DAT in August, or should I not send my DAT scores and just post that I will be completing the DAT in August.
What is my best bet!?

Shrug, schools will not look at you without your scores, but I don't think many schools will consider you with a 15 QR, 16 Bio anyway. I got rejected from Indiana in August, and one thing the Dean told me when I asked was that my 17 RC did not meet their minimum of 18. With that in mind, I would suggest not sending your scores until after your retake.

I know that your DAT score is not impressive but isn't it what's good about applying early? I thought they lower their bars for people applying early. If it isn't, what's good about applying early?

I feel like my scores are not competitive at all 🙁
I know my chances are better applying early but I dont want to spend all the money to apply just to get rejected when I know I can prob. do a lot better with my scores.
I think a lot of schools have a 17 minimum and my biology and QR are below that...

I don't think bars are lowered... You apply early so that you can be in the first round of consideration when adcoms meet in August or September. And then in the second round in October, and so on. Basically your name pops up on their radar more. In this case however, she may not WANT to be considered in the first round because she is retaking her DAT. I was literally rejected from Indiana on August 1st. If I was planning to retake the DAT on August 20th, that might have really sucked 😛

Can I apply June 1st and just note that I will be taking the DAT on Aug 14th?

Geez louise, they don't lower the bar. You apply early because dental schools accept students on rolling admissions.

As sucky as I know it sounds, I think you should consider retaking the DAT. Your scores are going to keep you from getting into the schools you want (considering your GPA), so study like mad and apply in August. You'll a bit be late, but you won't be THAT late.

These two got in with a 17 and a 14! ........unless they lied:

The Dean said my 17 RC was below the min. I guess they don't have a min for QR if someone got in with a 14...
