What was the comment and nature of the intended email? I hate to say it but I think it makes a difference. If you're 40 and the PC sent someone an email and said should we consider someone this old? Or if you're black, or muslim, or something. Anything where they are talking about a protected status.
But if it was just some dick who forgot his manners and sent your picture to a buddy in the department saying something like 'think we got a winner for this year's fattest cadidate' or something, that's mean, but I don't know if there is anything legally that can be done about it.
And by address, I am assuming not physical address, but email address, hence why you received it.
If it's something like the first case, I would call a lawyer. You might have a pretty strong case and could collect damages. If something like the second case, I might be tempted to pick the phone up and call this guy and calmly ask for an explanation and apology. Worrying about retaliation is stupid. Don't sell yourself out and stand up for yourself. Reporting this behind the PC's back is kind of lame IMO. If you don't like his/her explanation, then report him/her, otherwise forget about it. This stuff goes on all the time and we all know it. You just happened to catch them red-handed.
Here's a quote for you from Harold and Kumar go to whitecastle: Tarik: Look at me. I'm fat, black, can't dance, and I have two gay fathers. People have been messing with me my whole life. I learned a long time ago there's no sense getting all riled up every time a bunch of idiots give you a hard time. In the end, the universe tends to unfold as it should. Plus I have a really large penis. That keeps me happy.
