Hello,
I'd really appreciate if some of you could share your stats. I'm trying to determine what my chances are. I'm interested in DO schools more than MD schools for the OMM. I'm going into family med so I think it will give me an advantage.

Could you please tell me: (if you are comfortable with this)

MCAT score
GPA
Extracurriculars or what is unique about you.
Where accepted

I got a 25 P (8 BS, 9 PS, 8 VR). I have a 3.66 cum GPA (3.79 non-science and 3.59 science). I am interning at a hospital for 10 wks, have been an EMT for the past five years, first in family to attend college, interested in rural underserved family medicine. I've already been rejected by one MD school, and I'm a little scared about being rejected from all the DO schools too. :scared: Do you think I have a chance?

Thank you. I'm sure this will be very helpful to all the 2009 applicants. 🙂🙂🙂

State of residence?

I'd imagine you'll get some love from those places. MCAT could be higher, but the clinical experience and interest in primary care is nice.

Sounds like you are well within the range to me. You are very much what WVSOM and LECOM are looking for. PCOM seems kind of indifferent to the whole primary care underserved thing.

Try applying to PCSOM, ATSU-SOMA, and DCOM. These schools all seemed to be pretty big about the rural primary care thing when i interviewed there. If youre from the south GA-PCOM may give you some love.

You can check out my stats on my mdapps page but you have some better stats than mine and I got into my top choices. Also, sorry, but the primary care thing won't give you an edge. But you sound like you really like OMM so that might be something to bring up in interviews since you will definately be asked "why osteopathic medicine?"

Based on what you have written about yourself here, I really can't imagine you would have a problem getting into a DO school. Don't lose hope on the MD schools either though your MCAT score will surely hold you back from some schools, but you just might be pleasantly surprised by others. It isn't over til you have every rejection in your hand.

Your looking good to me. I had a 24 O with a 3.6 transfer GPA and then a 3.96 graduating GPA with tons of clinic experience as well as some volunteer. Relax and check out mdapplicants.com
