OK, this will definitely rank as one of the more silly questions in this forum, but I want to know which cell phone service is best around Pomona and the general LA area? Is verizon pretty good? I'll be attending next fall, so I want to make sure I don't end up singing my 2-year contract with a company with bad coverage.
Thanks in advance!!

Verizon worked fine for me. My GF had Tmobile, and at our house in Chino Hills, she got pretty bad reception.

I had sprint before I started, but switched to verizon when I moved out to pomona for the first year based on talking to a few people from the inland empire. I got great reception all over the area with verizon. And if you decide to move to the beach after you realize that living near campus sucks, verizon works all over the coast too.

Also, COMP students get a 10% discount on their monthly verizon bill.

The only thing I don't like about verizon is they are wicked slow at releasing new phones. Then when they finally do, they are locked down and have a gimped out verizon UI. I've been waiting for the friggin' xv6800 (HTC TyTn II) to make its verizon debut, since the sprint and AT&T/cingular versions of the TyTn II (mogul, tilt respectively) have been out for a long time. Verizon, however, still has not released it.

I can also indirectly vouch for t-mobile getting poor reception in the area based on talking to friends, and having them drop my calls while talking to them.

So, looks like Verizon it is! Anyone with a dissenting opinion?

verizon is pretty solid in this area, at my seat in the OMS2 lecture hall however it doesn't work. But I don't think any cell phones work in there.

Had T-mobile last year and it didn't work in many places on campus, in the town of claremont where I lived then, or at the house I moved into this year. Switched to verizon and have good coverage in all those places now.

I got cingular and it works fine in Pomona.
