Just wondering...
Does it matter if you check off the box that says you will be couples matching and then enter your partner's name and specialty...does this make a difference? I mean, will a PD in a separate hospital AND spearate specialty call another place on behalf of my spouse? Where will they get this information from anyway, if I dont tell them: "my girlfriend is applying to specialty X at programs A,B,C,D etc?" Can you tell programs flat out on interviews "I would love to be here but its not feasible to rank this program unless my GF gets an interview or is ranked at this or a nearby program--in another specialty?"

Also, as a DO student, does participating in the couples match preclude you from signing out of the match early?

Its a little scary...anyone been thru the process?

THANKS SO MUCH!

I don't know about calling other hospitals, but I have been told numerous times that specialties at the same program will talk and it can help.
