I am trying to find a credit card application where I can have a co-applicant. I am not married, but need to show proof that my relationship is committed or something for university housing.

I need to show a joint checking account and joint responsibility on credit cards. We have always been helping eachother out with credit card payments but both our names arent on it.

Any of you guys have joint cards with your significant others?? What companies offer these cards? I've checked online but can't find any...I'm going to call my credit card company and ask but it would be nice to just find one online. Thank you!

Some credit cards let you "authorize" other users. I don't know if this would help your situation, but I'm pretty sure they issue a second card with the same ID number but the other person's name. Check with cards you already hold and see if you can do that. I got a Chase card last year and they keep bugging me to add authorized users so I can "get more rewards" (and debt!).

My mom gave me a credit card on her account. All you need to do is call the company and say that you'd like to add another user to the account. Mine is from Discover, but I know that most companies do it.

Ya. Most credit cards will let you add anyone you want to your account. I have an Amex and a Chase Visa and I have added non-family members to both. Just call and add them!

I did that with a bank of america visa card. I think just about every cc company will let you add your nonmarried significant other except Amex. They're weird about that. You could also just open a joint checking account. But I can certainly understand not wanting to do that. I've been with my s/o for 5 years and I don't think I'll ever do that. It's just asking for trouble. Good luck with everything.

I highly recommend getting a joint bank acct. Banks don't require any actual relationship. Me and a buddy started a small joint venture that was made easier by a joint acct. No Prob, they said. Set us right up. Then she can't mess up your credit if there is a bad break up. You don't even have to do checking, just set up a savings and keep $5 in it. That way she couldn't even write bad checks. Otherwise, marry her.

thank you for all the advice! We ended up getting a joint card at kohl's!! lol, i didn't want a credit card i would be tempted to spend lots of money with, so this one works!

thanks agian
