Question for people on the alternate list

If your on the alternate list at your 1st choice school, do you think it's a good idea to stop in at the admissions office to say "hello" from time to time and let them know you still want to go there?? Do you think it would help you or just annoy them??

I wonder if it would even make a difference, why bother if it's just a waste of time?

Probably not because the alternate list is most likely already "ordered" and your acceptance is based on your position on the list and most likely nothing else. In general, do not hold too much hope for being an alternate. I have not heard of too many people making it inot school from a waitlist. I hope you prove me wrong! good luck.

Well, I know I'm number #1 on the alternate list at Ohio State. Plus, I go there as it is so it's easy for me to stop by. I guess I'm just paranoid that there may be something I need to do that I don't know about and I'd lose my spot on the waitlist. Hopefully good news is on the horizon!! Thanks for the well wishes though.

Unfortunately no. Ohio State is the only place I applied. My wife already has a good job in Columbus and being from Ohio, OSU was my best chance anyway being an in-state student.

The alternate lists ARE NOT ORDERED! You may think they are and they may tell you that they are but their not. THink about it... would you choose the next guy in line or the most qualified? If its in your state stop by. I stop by once a month and check up on my UW alternate status.
