Sorry, just another quick question for those of you who've interviewed at Duke.

Firstly, the site says you're supposed to be finished at 5, and the latest flight I can get out leaves at 6:06 PM. Is there any way I can make that flight?

And, I can save like $300 if I take a flight that gets in after midnight the night before my interview. I don't have a problem with that, but would that be too late to stay with a student host? I wouldn't want to keep them up until really late...

Wooohooo!!! Congratulations! That is awesome. Believe it or not i was thinking about you today and hoping that you hear some good news really soon. i started thinking that the whole process is over already. Good stuff.

Stay at the Brookwood inn right across the street from the DUMC. Actually, I'll say it's in the DUMC. As regards the 5pm thing, You guys will be done by 4:00pm at the latest. You need to have a shuttle ready to take you to RDU (20 min drive). This can be dangerous as those RDU shuttle folks are notorious for not showing up. Besides you might have to get to the airport early due to extended security.

Good luck at your interview. The bright side is that you'll know their decision in only 4 weeks. I'm sure you'll do fine.

I forgot to add that the Brookwood is at 2306 Elba street (I think). I'll double check and get their phone number as well. It's cheap and it couldn't be closer. On the other hand, some students wouldn't mind hosting that late. My Harvard student host picked me up from the train station after 10:00pm.

Here's the stuff:

Brookwood Inn at Duke, 2306 Elba
Street, Durham, NC. Their toll free number is 1-800-716-6401
From RDU Airport, you may take a cab or limo to The Brookwood Inn. Perhaps R&G Airport Shuttle: For Reservations call (919) 840-0262; 1-800-840-2RDU. Hours of
operation are 7:00 am ? 11:30 pm. Though this shuttle service is unreliable.

Wow. Thanks Original...

If my flight doesn't get in until 12:23, by the time I collect my baggage, etc, it could be 1 AM, and so I wouldn't be there until like 1:30 or 2 AM. I don't think I would as a med student to do that.

On the way back, though, I might just go ahead and book that 6 PM flight. If I'm done by 4 PM, I can catch a cab to the airport and be there by 4:30 at the latest. I really don't want to have to pay for a hotel room two nights, and I have midterms that week... 😀 I figure, worst case, I miss my flight, I get the first one out the next morning, and I go back to the hotel.

Thanks again, Original. I owe you one.

after midnight is probably too late for the hosts..... but Brook Inn should be a good idea.

I also would NOT trust the shuttle.

What about arranging for a cab to pick me up at 4 PM? I'd rather not spend a whole night there doing nothing if I can avoid it... What's the airport like? Did you guys have a lot of delays there?

Congrats, brandonite!
I know you were waiting on those US schools. Now only if Yale would come through.

I'm going to be at Duke on 2/19. Maybe our paths will cross.

Never mind, I saw on your other thread that you're schedule for March 1st.

Good luck!

I should go to bed now. Emory tomorrow.
