Can Anes work in other types of medical fields like hospitalists, Urgent Care, etc.?

I know some specialties can switch around some. Say as you get older and still want to work can you switch over to something "easier" so to speak and not as procedure heavy.

I know some EM docs that plan to just do doc in a box as they get older and want a 8-5 schedule.

I really would love to know if someone knows anything about it. Appreciate it!

this is something I'm curious about myself.

as a licensed Md, i guess you could technically pick up any doc-in-a-box shift, but you better be able to show that you know what you are doing in primary care if you ever get called into court....

There is a job in many hospitals called "proceduralist". All you do is go around and start lines, float swans, change bedside VAC dressings, etc.

It doesn't pay very well (by comparison to what a gas-passer makes).
