I did poorly as an undergrad.... 3.2 GPA and 25 on the MCAT.

I am going to go do a masters program and plan to get a 4.0 and do much better on the MCAT (30+). Anyone else get into medical school with these stats and up their stats a lot more through a traditional masters program? I would appreciate any input...

Thanks all...

getting into medschool is hit-or-miss most of the time.... there's no set formula to be honest.... i'm sure if you completed a masters with a solid GPA and landed a 28+ on your mcat you'd be competitive

look at schools like boston or georgetown that have 'physio' programs... they're just one year programs that, if you succeed, will bolster your chances of getting in greatly... pleantly of my friends got in off these physio programs, but then again, i know pleanty who did not get in even after completing these

bottom line: bust your ass if you're in one of these, it's like your moment to shine

I am not doing an SMP...I don't have the $$$, but I am doing an intense 1.5 year masters (the last 0.5 years is research) in a physiology and biophysics program at the University of Louisville. I hope this pays off as I plan to do extremely well and am going to try and kick ass on the MCAT.

Thanks for the advice and good luck to everyone else. Keep the info coming please..
