Question from a non-dentist

Before I start, I would like to say that you guys have a very supportive environment on this forum. I feel that you genuinely care about your colleagues passing this test.

So...here is my dilemma...

My wife failed part II (73). I am a physician so I have my fair share of experience with standardized tests, so I have been trying to help her by researching what all of you write on this forum.

She is currently spending 6 weeks to study for her re-take...putting in about 5 hours/day (on average). To give you an idea about her baseline knowledge, she is in the top 20% of her class.

She is studying Mosby's, released questions from 1979-2005, Tufts pharmacology review, and Kaplan Q-bank. I see that many of you mention dental decks as a key study tool, but she said that many people she spoke to at her school did not find them helpful.

I'm trying to be patient and supportive, but should I push her to do dental decks? She said she doesn't like studying note cards, and I know different people learn in different fashions...I don't want to stress her out, but I feel that she may be sabotaging herself by not concentrating on dental decks.

Is she doing enough??

i've definitely seen the decks put into book format. try to find those for her; but ya the decks were my primary way of studying, and she should definitely be using those.

I agree with Omaralt. She should definitely use them. I think you can purchase them on e-bay and they will send a pdf to your e-mail and it's actually pretty cheap. No more than $20 I think. Good luck.
