I am almost finished with my pre-courses, but due the limited availability of organic chem. I have to wait until Fall 2009 semester to take organic 1 and will be completing organ 2 in Spring 2010..

On PharmCAS, the deadline for Academic Update is in Feburary...it means that I would be only having organic 1 done by then when I am going to complete my organ 2 and general biology 2 in Spring 2010..

Does anyone know what should I do??????? Or do pharm schools which begin classes in Fall 2010 accept students who did not complete their pre-courses but would have completed before the semester begins?

I know this is a dumb-dumb question .... But please, anyone, help me...

If you are attending in Fall 2010, you just need to complete the prereqs by the end of the spring semester. Some schools even let you finish up in summer school of 2010 but that depends on the school.

You aren't going to have a problem. The previous poster is entirely correct. On the Pharmcas application you will simply enter the classes you are planning to take in the spring of 2010 as "planning to take".

Thank you guys so much....I was confused....

But in order to do well in PCAT, I would still probably study ahead for bio2 and organ2..right??

wondering if bio2 is very important in terms of the PCAT taking

There is some organic 2 on the exam but it mostly consists of a few reactions and nomenclature. I'm taking bio 2 now so I'm still figuring out what they are teaching in that class. I did take Anatomy and Physiology before I took the PCAT and I found that to be very helpful. If you study what is in the Kaplan PCAT book, it is enough to get a decent score if you really learn it.

yt851128, you'll do fine on the PCAT, just make sure to work on the practice tests and study the KAPLAN book (it has a great review of the sciences).

I was in the same boat that you were in this year and I was accepted to the only school to which I applied. I'm currently taking OChem II and had no OChem or bio experience when I took the PCAT (except for high school Bio which was roughly 9 years ago).

I just studied the KAPLAN book, read it cover to cover, and took the PCAT practice tests online. I scored in the high 80s for Bio and did okay on the OChem sections of the exam.

Although, now that I have completed Anatomy and OChem I, I know I could do better on the PCAT, but I guess it doesn't matter 😀

Good luck

I was in the same boat. I am taking Organic 2 now and I have been accepted to two schools. Depending on the school, they want you to have all your pre-reqs done by Spring or Summer semester. They will still interview and accept students, but when you get the acceptance letter, it says in there that the acceptance is contigent upon you finishing (usually with a C or better but that depends on the schhol too) all your required classes. No worries!! 🙂
