Hi,

Can anyone plz explain to me why in a class 2 malocclusion the mandibular canine will contact the upper canine and lateral incisor? Shouldn't it be just the canine as the lower teeth are distal to the upper teeth? Besides if this is the case how is it a malocclusion then? Isn't this normal?

Thanks

Hi,

there are two different htings, class ii canine classification and class ii malocclusion.
Lower teeth are mesial to upper teeth normally. and contact upper canine and lateral incisor,In class ii malocclusion,as the upper teeth are more proclined or more anterior, and lower teeth are more posterior,so canine can contact upper ist premolar and canine.
hope this helps.

Thanx a lot for your help. But this what I thought as well. The answer was that the mandibular canine would contact the lateral incisor and upper canine. I thought it should be the canine only or maybe even the premolar.
Anyway what do you think?
