Hey guys, I've heard about the changes with the NBDE Pt. I, in terms of question changes (ie. addition of case based questions). Does anyone know when this new test will be implemented (if not already)? I've done a search on the web, and had no luck finding any informative information. I'm planning on taking the Pt. I boards next year, so was curious if any of you guys were in the know how on this topic (I'm gonna check with my school too). I find it a concern in that it may/will change how the best way to prepare for the exam is.

Thanks

We were told the same thing last year, but it was the same format it's been for the last 20 yrs. Same style questions, same questions is some cases. The only things that struck me as different were the increased difficulty of Dent Anatomy and biochem incorporated a few questions on more current topics. Just talking with some other students last yr, the curves of individual sections didn't seem as favorable as years past, particularly Gross Anatomy and Dental Anatomy. To be fair, each year the competition and number of questions answered correctly is increasing bit by bit, but who knows? Anyway, I wouldn't worry about the "case based" twist until it's substantiated. Just study as usual and expect it to be the same style as yrs past. Good luck.
