Question on Gen Chem Common Ions List

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I don't think you'd need to remember the whole list. It couldn't hurt, but know general charges. Like N compounds usually -1, S compound -2, P -3. Then like some carbonate, ammonium, acetate, hydroxide. Like remember to more common of the common ions. But the whole list can't hurt again. Some of those, they usually tell you the charge, or you can figure it out if they are bound to Metals and hydrogen.

I wonder if there is a lot of Gen Chem naming ? maybe thats why ?

I can see where you are coming from. They may ask you to compare the formal charges of N in nitrate vs nitrite.

Or say Sodiumchromate reacts with compound x, what is the sums of the integers of the balance equation. Here you'd need to know sodium is +1 and chromate is 2-

I only memorized the ones in my anki set (aka the ones that appear in bootcamp and destroyer practice questions). I had the bootcamp cheat sheet too but felt it was a waste of time.

Focus on memorizing the most common ones. I looked in tyjacobs gchem notes for all the rules. Chad explains them fairly well too.

Well they won't give you all of them but all the ones on that list can show up. Also, I was thinking of solubility lol (mb)
