Hey sorry I bring this timely issue up again....I think its just the resonating mantra of FA+UW, FA+UW , FA+UW , FA+UW , FA+UW from the people who took step is the best way to prepare for the step. My question basically is geared towards people who know UWorld in and out.
Personally, I'm using GT (which already is a time investment) to drill FA and learn from it for the long term. But I think the dilemma (and I realize there's no wrong answer) I have is that based on what I hear is that in order to do well on UWorld, you really need a baseline of knowledge and hence this is why I'm using GT/kaplan videos/BRS Phys/Pathoma/BRS stats + doing well in classes as my core agenda to review all the subjects. In essence, GT (aka FA+more) is basically my consistent knowledge baseline, coupled with all the tidbits I pick up from my other sources.
Anyways, 2nd year will get busy and in interest of being effective, I'm contemplating as to whether the knowledge acquired from Kaplan Qbank/Rx is necessary (note im just shooting for a 245)...My initial strategy had been to do Kaplan QBank over the course of the year and then save UWorld for last, however, having used GT, I've completed a lot of subjects cold (i.e.- biochem, micro, immuno etc...) and my question is whether having used kaplan vids and GT-cold (or FA cold for a given section essentially), am I in the position to tackle UWorld this early on in second year or is UWorld ridiculously insane where each question integrates everything such that to answer a micro or biochem question, I'll need to know the path, etc...if thats not the case, then hey, I'd rather just scrap kaplan and rx and do like 5 uworld problems a night starting day 1 of M2 and just get like 2-3 passes at it. Like I said there's no wrong answer, but I'm just curious as to whether knowing FA cold + the other sources I mentioned having just completed M1 puts me in a position to do the questions of UWorld, subject-based, day 1 of MS2 without doing any sort of prior kaplan/rx stuff.
Thanks.
